Ruins in disrepair or just the beginnings of something fantastic? Fragments of classic chilean “Princess Bricks” (Ladrillo Princesa) found while strolling through the streets of different chilean cities. With its wear and tear is visible: Scratches, Burnmarks, Moss… each Brick tells its own story.

Daniela Munizaga writing about the Exhibition at Solar Galerie in Santiago, Chile:
“Play is a vital force, a creative strategy that opens a transitional space between inertia and destruction. In repetition and creation, the playful emerges as a tool to resist, rebuild, and re-signify.
Jan introduces a possibility of repair and allows a utopia to take shape amid urban decay, where ladrillos princesa—symbols of the structural and the rigid—are intervened with toy pieces. In this gesture, the fragmentary becomes possibility: rupture ceases to be an endpoint and instead opens into a transitional space that gathers imagination and reconstruction in coexistence.
His exercises evoke the tension between the possibility of utopia in history and in the present. In the official narrative of the material, the ladrillo princesa intervenes from a collapse, pointing toward what might come and be reinvented. The city, with its cracks and wounds, is transformed into a game board where play becomes a strategy of resistance and renewal. Here, the playful is not mere entertainment; it is an act of defiance against deterioration, an attempt to open new ways of inhabiting space, of inhabiting the future, and of allowing descendants to emerge.”
